Ingredients
-
2 lbs of fresh green beans (serves 4)
-
1 onion chopped finely
-
1 Tablespoon butter
-
salt
-
pepper
-
nutmeg
Directions
-
Cut the tips off both ends of the grean beans and rinse them thoroughly.
-
Bring enough water to a boil in a large pot such that you could cover the green beans. Boil the green beans until they are al dente, which usually takes around ten minutes of cooking. Drain into a colander, and rinse under cold tap water.
-
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and stir for a minute or two until the onion begins to become transparent. Add the green beans back into the pot.
-
Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste, stir once or twice and let it simmer uncovered for 10 more minutes.
-
Serve hot and enjoy!
Cook’s Notes
-
Did you know? Rinsing the green beans under cold water immediately after boiling makes them keep their nice green color? Yumm!
